Job Overview A law firm seeks a National Security and Global Trade Associate to join its practice in Austin, TX. The ideal candidate will have experience advising on U.S. economic sanctions, export controls, CFIUS, and national security-related issues in corporate and financial transactions. This role involves collaboration with various teams on complex, cross-border matters for multinational clients. Duties Advise clients on U.S. economic sanctions, including compliance counseling and risk assessments. Counsel on export controls under EAR and ITAR regulations. Support CFIUS and national security reviews, including transaction structuring and filing preparation. Conduct diligence on sanctions, export control, and national security in strategic transactions. Draft and review compliance policies and contractual provisions related to trade risks. Assist with internal investigations and responses to government inquiries. Collaborate with colleagues on multidisciplinary matters. Requirements 3-4 years of relevant experience in international trade, sanctions, export controls, or national security matters. Experience with transactions involving trade or national security considerations. Strong drafting, analytical, and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple matters in a fast-paced environment. Admission to practice in the relevant jurisdiction. Education: JD from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials. Certifications Admitted to practice in the jurisdiction of application. Skills Excellent written and verbal communication abilities. Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
